A Heart Of The Porridge Man
Sometimes for breakfast, i will buy chicken porridge sold by side the road near my office. The porridge is good enough and quite cheap, just about Rp. 4,000.- or USD 0.5 (if the exchange rate is about Rp. 9,500.-)
The porridge man, around forties, is a nice and friendly person. For your information, the chicken porridge is sold in a cart made by wood and glasses and has two wheels. You can find it easily almost around Jakarta.
Why i brought up this matter? It's because today i saw something that really can touch my heart.
Like usual, i wanted to buy a porridge. I drive slowly to the side of the road. There was only a car, a man who sweeping the road and several people eating there. I step out of my car and come near the porridge man who was preparing a porridge.
When i arrived, he was already done with that porridge. When saw me coming, he called for the Ketupat Sayur Man and said with low voice,”Tolong kasih ke tukang sapu itu. Kasihan dia”. (Please give this to that cleaning man. Poor him). I looked to the cleaning man who still was sweeping the ground from garbage and leaves. He was wearing handkerchief to cover his nose and mouth from dust that flying over everytime he swept the ground. He was wearing green uniform and a hat. I couldn't see his face, but i could see his white hair. He was an elderly man.
I was amazed, to know that there is nice people who still care for others though he is not rich, though he is just a porridge man. It would be much different if it was years ago, when my country's economy was still good. Today, everything is so difficult for small people. The price of food and fuel are raising. Everything is so expensive for them.
I always wondering about the world, what is it becoming? A lot of bad people out there, who care only for themself. The government who can't do much for small people, the people representative institution who do not represent the people, the political parties who are busy playing politics instead of supporting the government to a better future, the riches who don't care, the poors that becoming poorer, unemployment, the bastard corruptor, etc. Those are a heartbreaking conditions.
But today i see kindness. It's one reasons why we should still believe that there are still kindness in this world. Hopefully i can always tell my boy it's a worth living world anyway, for some good reason.
